INDIAN AIR FORCE AIRMEN( ‘X’ & ‘Y’ GROUPS) WRITTEN EXAMINATION

The Airmen (‘X’ & ‘Y’ Group) examination is conducted by Air HQ, as per notification published from time to time. Application is invited on line and the examination is valid for one intake/entry only. To attempt the examination, it requires proper understanding of the examination pattern and the detailed syllabus of subjects covered.

`X` & `Y` Exam Pattern & Selection Process. The exams are conducted in 3 Phases as follows:-

  • Phase I : Objective Test (On Line)
  • Phase II : Physical Fitness Ability Test
  • Phase III : Medical Examination

Phase I : Objective Test (Subject + Marks)

Phase II : Physical Fitness Ability : The Test consists of:-

  • 1.6 km run to be completed in 6.5 minutes
  • 10 sit ups
  • 10 Push ups
  • 20 Squats

Phase II : AF Group X and Y Mandatory Medical Standards

General Medical Standards for both Group ‘X’ (Except Education Instructor Trade) and Group ‘Y’ {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades are as follows: –

  • Height:   Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms.
  • Chest:    Minimum range of expansion- 5 cm.
  • Weight:  Proportionate to height and age. However, minimum weight of 55 Kg required for Operations Assistant (ATS) Trade only.
  • Corneal  Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable.
  • Hearing:  Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
  • Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
  • Health: Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or infection and skin ailments. Candidate shall be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.
  • Details of medical standards for various Groups/Trades are available on CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in
  • Permanent body tattoos are not permitted, however, tattoos only on inner face of the fore arms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/reverse side of palm and Tribal with tattoos which are as per custom and traditions of their tribes may be considered. However, right to decide on acceptability/ unacceptability of the individual shall rest with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos shall submit two photographs (close up and distant view) with details of size and type of the Tattoo, during the second phase of Selection Test.
  • Only Sikh candidates, whose religion prohibits, cutting of the hair or shaving of face of its member, will be permitted to grow hair and/or retain beard and moustache. Accordingly, those Sikh candidates willing to retain the same as per laid down specification are to get their photographs with beard and moustache.

  • Passed intermediate/10 + 2/ Equivalent exam with Maths, Physics and English with min 50% marks in as aggregate and 50% marks in English
  • Passed 3 rd year Diploma Course in Engineering in any stream from Govt recognised Polytechnique Institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Diploma/Intermediate/ Matriculation
Age ( 17 year – 21 Year) In case a candidate clears all stages of the selection procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 yrs
Group ‘Y’ (Except Automobile tech GIT, IAF (P), IAF(S) & Musician Trades)
  • Passed intermediate/10 + 2/ Equivalent exam in any stream with min 50% marks in as aggregate and 50% marks in English
 
Group ‘Y’ Medical Assistant Grade only Passed 10+2/ Intermediate/ equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with Minimum 50% marks in 50% in English.

INDIAN NAVY : SENIOR SECONDARY RECRUIT (SSR) /ARTIFICER APPRENTICE (AA) /MATRIC RECRUIT (MR)

INS Chilka located at Khurda Odisha is a Premier Naval Training Institution which provides basic training to all sailors of the Indian Navy. Special emphasis is laid on academics, naval orientation and services subjects. The trainee is uniformly trained for subsequent professional courses and acquires attitudes and basic skills essentially required in a potential sailor. The curriculum has been designed to develop mental and physical faculties essential for a career as Sailor.

Must pass the CPII color perception standard and Eyes Visual standards and meet the following standards:

  • With glasses - better eye: 6/9 & worst eye: 6/12

TRAINING

  • 9 weeks of basic training at INS Chilka, followed by 8 weeks of sea training
  • 4 years of technical training at an Indian Navy establishment that leads to an educational qualification equivalent to diploma in electrical/ mechanical/ aeronautical engineering (recognized by Indian govt for employment purposes.)

SENIOR SECONDARY RECRUITS (SSR)
