National Defence Academy is a premier training institution and center of excellence for grooming junior leaders for the Indian armed forces and armed forces of Friendly Foreign Countries.

Candidates for National Defence Academy are selected on merit basis through NDA exam which is held on all India basis every year by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). It is held twice a year, in the month of April and September. While applying, candidates should give his preference for the services that he/she desires to join.

Selected candidates for the three services, viz, Army, Navy and Air Force are given preliminary training in both academic and physical for a period of 3 years at the National Defence Academy. The training during the first two and half years is common to the cadets of three wings. The cadets on passing out are awarded B.Sc/ B.Sc (Computer)/BA Degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.

On successful completion of the three-year course, Army cadets proceed to Indian Military Academy at Dehradun, Naval cadets to Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala and Air Force cadets to the Air Force Academy at Hyderabad. After completion of one year of training at their respective academies, they are commissioned as Officers into respective services

ELIGIBILITY FOR NDA WRITTEN EXAMINATION

 

• Class 12/intermediate/10+2/ HSC from a recognized board in India with subject of Physics and Mathematics.
• Candidates between 16 ½ and 19 ½ years of age as on first day of the month in which the course is to commence

 

EXAMAMINATION PATTERN..

The exam consists of two papers i.e. Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper II (General Ability Test). General Ability Test will be further divided into two parts that include English and General Knowledge (Including Science).
